We opened as a beer café — a cozy spot near the Kittery outlets with rotating taps and a bar I'm proud of. Then folks tried the lobster rolls, and word got around. Today we're Dave's Maine Café: a real Maine lobster shack with a road-house heart, right on Route 1.
It's still my family running the place. I cook the food I'd want to eat — honest, generous, unmistakably Maine — and there's no hurry to push you out the door. Board games on the shelf, the game on if there's a game on, and always a reason to stick around.
